The Italian Game Chef only got 9 entries (far fewer than last year, IIRC), but at a glance the average level of them all looks very good. Designers tackling the "no book" theme submitted their games as websites, as boards with accompanying cards or as collection of AW-style playbooks and similarly short, fragmented texts. Basically, all of them look playable already and are based on intriguing concepts and/or exhibit compelling form factors. Most are presented with an astounding amount of polish, but even unpolished entries look very promising. Whatever the end result, I'm pleased.
